My Zapier Authorization Isn't Working

Overview

Authenticating Adhesion Connect in Zapier requires a single API key. If your authorization is failing, the most common cause is an incorrectly copied API key — typically an extra space or missing character. This article walks through how to resolve it.

Step 1: Copy your API key correctly

The most common cause of a failed authorization is an API key that wasn't copied cleanly. To avoid this:

  1. In Adhesion Connect, go to Settings → Connections
  2. Locate the Jobber location you are connecting to Zapier
  3. Click the copy icon next to your API key — this copies the key exactly to your clipboard, avoiding any extra spaces or characters
  4. Paste the key directly into the Zapier authentication screen without modifying it

Step 2: Re-authenticate in Zapier

If your connection was previously working and has stopped, Zapier will prompt you to re-authenticate. When that happens:

  1. Follow Zapier's reconnection prompt
  2. Return to Settings → Connections in Adhesion Connect and copy your API key using the copy icon
  3. Paste the key into the Zapier authentication screen and confirm

If authorization is still failing

  • Confirm you are on the PRO plan — Zapier access is not available on Starter, Grow, or Scale plans
  • Confirm you are using the API key for the correct Jobber location — each location has its own API key
  • Try copying and pasting the API key again using the copy icon to rule out any formatting issues
